Peripheral Nerve Surgery

Mr Andrew Sanders has a particular interest in peripheral nerve surgery. He gained subspecialty training through a 12 month fellowship with the Peripheral Nerve Injury Service at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham under the guidance of the internationally acclaimed surgeon – Mr Dominic Power and team. He is experienced in treating both upper and lower limb nerve problems. He is a member of highly specialised teams at Middlemore Hospital providing care to infants with obstetric brachial plexus injures and patients with spinal injuries resulting in tetraplegia.

Conditions treated include:

Peripheral nerve repair / reconstruction 

Restoring damaged nerves through direct repair or grafting techniques.

Upper and lower limb nerve compression 

Relief of nerve entrapments like carpal tunnel, cubital tunnel, or tarsal tunnel syndromes.

Neuroma management 

Treatment of painful nerve growths that may develop after injury or surgery.

Brachial plexus injury 

Complex reconstruction of nerve injuries affecting the shoulder, arm, and hand, often caused by trauma or birth injuries.

Peripheral nerve injury 

Management of nerve damage resulting from trauma, surgery, or repetitive use.

Nerve tumours 

Surgical removal of benign or malignant tumours arising from or affecting nerves.
